Explora Journeys and shipbuilder Fincantieri have set a new delivery date for the EXPLORA II. After careful and detailed reviews of the EXPLORA II, it was decided that more time was needed for the final completion of the ship to ensure the highest standards of quality and luxury and to ensure that the new ship delivers on the brand’s promise of an unparalleled luxury offshore experience fully fulfilled.
EXPLORA II will be delivered on September 12, 2024, and the new ship’s maiden voyage will take place on September 16, 2024 from Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy, with a 7-night voyage to Sorrento, the island of Lipari, Trapani and Siracusa in Sicily , Valletta in Malta and Tarragona in Spain. Voyages start at 7 nights and can be extended to 14 or 21 nights, with all departures from easily accessible ports such as Civitavecchia in Italy and Barcelona in Spain and avoiding repeat ports during the combinable voyages.
5 first cruises cancelled
The delay in delivery means that the ship’s first five scheduled cruises will be cancelled. The cancelled itineraries all departed from either Barcelona or Rome, with embarkation dates including August 11, 19, and 26, and September 2 and 9, 2024.
Explora Journeys is contacting guests booked on the affected voyages, either directly or through their travel advisors, to arrange an alternative voyage on EXPLORA II or sister ship EXPLORA I, also sailing in the Mediterranean.
EXPLORA II will sail the Western Mediterranean this summer, visiting a selection of well-known destinations such as Portofino, Porto Cervo, Saint-Tropez, Calvi, Mahon and Monte Carlo, with sailings including overnight stays and extended port stays.
