The 2015-built Norwegian Escape will be out of service for over a month due to an unscheduled drydock in September. As a result, all voyages from September 8, 2022, through and including October 2, 2022, have been cancelled.
Having only recently made its Great Cruise Comeback with the sailing of Norwegian Spirit, Norwegian Cruise Line made the announcement in a letter to passengers and travel agents.
Affected guests will automatically receive full monetary refunds of the paid fares to the form of payment provided at the time of reservation. Norwegian is also offering passengers a ten percent discount in the form of a Future Cruise Credit.
Norwegian Escape is currently cruising in Europe and was scheduled to offer ten- and 11-night cruises to the Mediterranean visiting various destinations in Greece, Malta and Italy. For more on Norwegian Escape’s European summer season click here.
Before kicking off its European summer program, Norwegian Escape already spent a month out of service. While leaving Puerto Plata on Mar. 14, the 163,000-ton vessel had to be refloated with the help of tugboats after running run aground. While guests were flown back to the United States, the ship was said to have suffered minor damage. After further inspection and repairs the ship resumed sailing on April 18, 2022.
