Spectrum of the Seas, the first in Royal Caribbean’s Quantum Ultra class of ships, has arrived in Hong Kong. Designed to redefine the China cruise market the ship features a new suite class, innovative dining, awe-inspiring entertainment experiences and first-to-brand experiences.
The arrival of Spectrum of the Seas in Hong Kong means Royal Caribbean‘s new purposefully designed ship for Asia is nearing the end of her Global Odyssey from Barcelona to Shanghai. During her 46-night voyage she has taken guests to an exciting array of ports, including Aqaba, Jordan; Dubai, UAE; Muscat, Oman; Cochin, India and Georgetown, Malaysia.
ROYAL ACCOMMODATIONS
Spectrum of the Seas is introducing Royal Caribbean’s first exclusive suites-only area, a private enclave at the forward end of the ship on decks 13 through 16, which features 36 exquisite Golden and 106 Silver suite accommodations. Vacationers booked in these luxury suites have special keycard access, a private elevator and a dedicated restaurant and lounge. In addition to a range of exclusive amenities, guests have access to The Balcony – a private outdoor space for sunbathing and relaxing – that offers the best views on board and The Boutique, a shopping area where travelers can book private shopping experiences.
Spectrum also features the Ultimate Family Suite. The two-level suite measures 2,809-square-foot and accommodates up to 11 guests. The suite includes a master bedroom and two additional bedrooms for grandparents and other family members. Kids have their own kid-friendly space on the upper level, complete with an in-suite slide that transports them to the living area below. Everyone in the family can enjoy time together in the recreation room, featuring surround-sound equipment for a night of karaoke, movies and video games.
ROYAL DINING
Innovative dining concepts include: Sichuan Red – with authentic cuisine from the Sichuan province of China, Wonderland’s Dadong – a new outpost of Chinese chef Dong Zhenxiang, renowned for his much-coveted roast duck and the Leaf and Bean traditional tea room and café parlor offering a range of authentic Chinese teas, classic coffee drinks as well as freshly baked Chinese and western desserts and pastries.
ROYAL ENTERTAINMENT
The cutting-edge and transformative Two70 features next-generation entertainment that seamlessly fuses performance art and technology. With its signature Vistarama technology, which transforms the 270-degree panoramic windows into a projection surface that measures 135 feet wide and 22 feet tall, the iconic venue at the aft of the ship presents spectacular digital art, from iconic city skylines to larger-than-life waterfalls, that takes form in surprise and delight programming. In addition, a troupe of six, agile Roboscreens come to life in perfect sync with music, special effects and multi-talented live performers, to awe guests with stunningly visual shows that can only be seen while sailing onboard Spectrum.
Taking center stage on Spectrum of the seas is “The Silk Road” an original production created by Royal Caribbean International exclusively for Two70. The incredibly rich and diverse cultures, colors, music and visuals of this famous trade route comes to life as guests are taken on a mystical journey. Combined with world-class, state-of-the-art entertainment technology with the Vistarama and Roboscreens, the audience is transported into this stunning chapter of human history.
The 1,300 guest magnificent Royal Theater is home to Spectrum of the Seas’ two new production shows “The Effectors” and “Showgirl! Present. Future.”
The Effectors introduces guests to four new superheroes with the power to change the world: Captain Coreo, the leader of the pack, has the power to control all forms of movement and motion; Lume, a sassy and dynamic super girl, has the ability to control light, laser and all things visual; Pixel is beautiful, sexy, enigmatic and the most mysterious one of the group who has the total control over video imagery and projection power; Reverb is the most unpredictable and hardest to control, whose power is enormous, as he can control sound and all things audio! The four superheroes unite their powers to fight the evil enemy, Crash, as he tries to stop the show and the world.
Showgirl! Present. Future. takes guests on the iconic journey of the ultimate entertainer – the Showgirl. Presented in the Royal Theater, the show combines next-generation choreography, incredible vocal performances, lavish costumes, and cutting-edge lighting and video effects to deliver an entertainment experience that will stimulate all senses.
But the entertainment doesn’t end on stage. Spectrum offers guests a lineup of fully produced events, parties and activities.
A new lively and energetic karaoke venue, Star Moment, is where family and friends can belt out and sing like stars.
An enhanced SeaPlex, the largest indoor sports and entertainment complex at sea, lets families enjoy bumper cars, roller skating, basketball and new interactive gaming which will provide guests with thrilling, high-tech interactive experiences.
Battle for Planet Z – the epic glow-in-the-dark laser tag adventure brings two teams of eight head-to-head in an out-of-this-world adventure to determine who will claim the last planet in the galaxy, while Expedition Two70 – lets you test your adventuring skills in four fully immersive augmented reality games. Raise temples, blast ruins and more on a quest to recover ancient masks.
Also on board are the iconic Sky Pad, a virtual reality, bungee trampoline experience located on the aft of the ship, as well as the North Star glass capsule that takes guests more than 300 feet above the ocean for incomparable panoramic views. Guests seeking more thrilling experiences can try the RipCord by iFly, a heart-pounding skydiving simulator experience and the FlowRider surfing simulator.
Accommodating 4,246 guests at double occupancy and 1,551 international crew members, Spectrum of the seas is the largest and most expensive ship in Asia.
