Con te partirò – The best of 2018

It’s that time of the year again where we wave goodbye to the past 12 months. Looking back at some of our most favourite pictures we can definitely say 2018 was a pretty amazing year.

We started 2018 with the idea of taking a sabbatical and not going on a cruise, but instead going back to our travel roots and do a major road trip and some (smaller) citytrips. But as always, nothing went as planned and the cruise temptation was hard to resist. And since we did five cruises, spending almost a full month at sea, you could even say it was too hard to resist. But in all honesty we didn’t really resist and loved every minute!

A great way to look back at the amazing things we did over the past 12 months is by looking at some of the most popular post on our Instagram feed. If you aren’t already following us, and don’t want to miss out on all the fun, make sure to visit us at cruisetotravel!

Our first cruise of the year was also our first cruise with Costa Cruises. We joined Costa Mediterranea to find out if Costa really offers the best of Italy at sea. Under the motto “Mai visto niente di simile” (loosely translated to “you’ve never seen anything like this), Costa Mediterranea’s rich palette of warm colors and her columns topped by a Roman God and Roman vases with Murano glass was indeed something we had never seen before. It took us less than five minutes to get accustomed to our floating Italian palace and explore the bars, restaurants and entertainment. During our trip we visited the White Cliffs of Dover and Le Havre, or as some call it Manhattan by the sea. We loved the warm service, great food and entertainment on board Costa Mediterranea and will definitely be back for some more Italian hospitality.

Cruise number two, on board Azamara Quest, was as azamazing as our first time with the boutique cruise line. It’s amazing how it takes the crew only a few hours to get to know you by your first name and make you feel right at home. During our week on board we visited the beautiful cities of Hvar, Zadar, Sibenik and Dubrovnik in Croatia, Kotor in Montenegro and spent the night in Venice, Italy. Those who have sailed with Azamara Club Cruises will agree that the company’s Azamazing Evenings and White Nights are among the best to be had at sea.

Our final three cruises, or triple-X as we like to call them, with Celebrity Cruises were as wonderful as what we’ve gotten used to from Celebrity. This time we visited amazing places like Key West (make sure to visit the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory and the Audubon House and Tropical Gardens!), Nassau, Cozumel and Puerto Rico. One of the highlights was seeing Celebrity Edge as she arrived home for the first time in Port Everglades and then seeing her during her test run to The Bahamas.

It was great to step back on board Celebrity Infinity and Equinox and we can’t wait to do it again. And with the Celebrity Revolution, and the upgrades that will take the ships to the Edge, that might be sooner than we think.
