At a ceremony earlier today at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, Princess Cruises has taken ownership of her 18th cruise ship, Majestic Princess. Sistership to Royal Princess and Regal Princess, Majestic Princess offers the same Princess experience and signature favorites plus exciting new features with a Chinese flair.
Built on the basis of her sisterships Royal Princess and Regal Princess, who were also constructed in the Monfalcone shipyard respectively in 2013 and 2014, Majestic Princess offers the Princess experience and signature favorites plus some exciting new features with a Chinese flair.
Majestic Princess, who flies the Bermuda flag, features the new Princess Cruises livery with the historic Seawitch logo painted on both sides on the bow together with Chinese ideograms “Shèng Shì Gng Zh Haò”, meaning “Grand Spirit”.
Designed specifically for the Chinese market the ship features a number of new venues expressly tailored for the Chinese passenger’s tastes and habits. These include restaurants dedicated to different kinds of food with a wide array of culinary choices, a dazzling water color fantasy sound and light show, six private karaoke suites, a new indoor garden lounge and a glass floored “seawalk” extending 30 feet out over the side of the ship and 128 feet above sea level.
The new 145,000 gross tons unit, the largest ship ever built in Italy, is able to accommodate 4,250 passengers in 1,780 cabins. Before setting sail to her homeport of Shanghai, a total of 1,350 crew members will make sure international guests experience the cruise vacation of a lifetime during the ship’s inaugural Mediterranean season.
