The booking for our cruise on Norwegian Epic included a flight from Amsterdam to Barcelona. A few days before departure the travel agent informed us we were booked on a 7:15 a.m. flight. I hear you thinking ‘that’s ok’, but believe me for us that’s the middle of the night. Knowing that we didn’t want to get in our car at 2 a.m. and drive 3 hours to get to the airport in time, we decided to spend the night near the airport. Furthermore, as we were going to be driving, we needed a place to leave the car during our cruise.
The Park, Sleep, Fly package at Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport fulfilled all our wishes. The package includes 14 days of free parking and free use of the hotel’s airport shuttle. After 14 days a standard fee of € 5,00 per day applies.
Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport features 342 superior and executive rooms and is located in Business Park Lijnden, a suburb of Amsterdam.
All rooms feature air-conditioning, complimentary internet access, coffee and tea making facilities, working desk, flat screen TV with movies on demand and bathroom with shower and toilet.
We stayed in an executive room. These wonderful rooms have a lounge area, sofa and table, bathroom with bath and walk-in shower, separate toilet and mini-bar.
Our room had an ‘inside’ view, looking down into the executive lounge.
Part from the additional features and amenities, staying in an executive rooms comes with complimentary access to the executive lounge. Unfortunately, due to a huge traffic jam, we arrived late at the hotel and missed out on the happy hour in the lounge.
At five o’clock in the morning the tables were all set for breakfast but, as we had to take the first shuttle to the airport at 5:15 a.m. and breakfast starts at 6 a.m., we left the hotel on an empty stomach.
The hotel features spa and wellness facilities that include a fitness centre, solarium, steam room and a sauna.
We had a very short but extremely good night’s sleep before flying out to Barcelona to go on our cruise.
The free shuttle service to the airport, in combination with the covered parking, makes the hotel a great choice when taking a flight from Schiphol Airport or when visiting Amsterdam. Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport is also an excellent choice even if you only want to go plane spotting at the airport or shop till you drop at the airport’s shopping centre, which is open 7 days a week.
